Delta course Cambridge School, Verona
New course starting!
Welcome to the Delta course run by the Cambridge School, Verona. This website will give you some information about the course and help you decide if it is right for you. For the last two years we have not run a Delta course due to trainer commitments, but the good news is that we are planning on running a course in the next academic year, starting in October 2018!
We offer a part-time face-to-face course with meetings once a week in Verona. The Verona Delta course is designed to ensure a balance between the demands of practical application and understanding of the theoretical background. Our courses are designed to help you gain the diploma and make the course an enjoyable learning experience.
The diploma offers candidates who have experience of teaching English to speakers of other languages the opportunity to:
· become more self-critical of their own teaching by encouraging them to question their past and present teaching experience and to
take risks and experiment in the planning and execution of their lessons.
· examine issues within ELT and gain a theoretical background so they can develop sound principles upon which to base their teaching.
· apply the results of their learning and reflection to their current professional lives and to circumstances beyond their present and previous teaching experience.
Entry requirements:
· To have a level of English sufficient to follow all parts of the course.
· To be at least 21 years of age.
· To hold a further education degree.
· To have followed an initial training course e.g. CELTA.
· To have at least 2 years full-time teaching experience after this initial training.
This list is an ideal candidate profile. If you do not fulfil all of these requirements, it is still possible that you will be offered a place on the course. However, we will need to have an interview to decide whether you have an appropriate background to cope with the course and the potential to pass it. If you have not already done an initial training course, it is possible that after the interview we will suggest you first complete a CELTA course. Please do not see this as a disappointment or a failure. The Delta course is a big commitment in terms of time and money, and it is our policy to be honest with applicants so they have the best possible chance of successfully completing the course.
